Vallejo, Calif. – Marymount California Men's Golf finished the three-day tournament tied for first, forcing a play-off.
After playing an extra hole, the Mariners dropped to Embry-Riddle (Ariz.), who claims their fifth straight team championship.
MCU's, Michael Padilla, finished tied for first and was also forced to play an individual playoff against ERAU's, Matt Andrews, when he posted the lowest round of the day. Padilla shot one-under, 71 at Hiddenbrooke Golf Course in Vallejo, Calif. It took an extra five holes to determine the individual winner, but it would go to Andrews, who earned his second consecutive title.
The Mariners forced the one-hole tiebreaker by finishing the final round with a team score of 293, 12 shots better than ERAU.
Two other Mariner golfers tied for third including Dean Billings (76-75-74--225) and William Bealieu (77-76-72--225), who were just two strokes off the pace of the leaders.
For the first time for the men's program, there were three golfers in the top five, all being named to the All-Conference Team.
